Keita Is Proud to Wear Gerrard’s Jersey

DBasia.news – Midfielder Naby Keita is honored to wear the No. 8 jersey number in Liverpool. As we know, the number was previously worn by the club legend, Steven Gerrard.

Keita was recruited by Liverpool from Red Bull Leipzig with £52,75M transfer fee. Despite his new player status, he could continue Gerrard’s jersey number who moved to Los Angeles Galaxy in 2015.

The 23-year-old player is delighted to wear the legendary jersey. But, he insisted that he would write his own story with The Reds and won’t be under Gerrard’s shadow.

“It used to belong to a player who was a legend, that was respected here. When I was a child, that really was in my mind, to play for a great club like Liverpool,” Keita said.

“He left his own mark, I want to leave my own mark, I am going to work really hard,” he added.

At the same time, Keita also told his adaptation process in England. He told that he’s learning English to make communication easier.
