DBasia.news – The Spanish National Team summoned another new player as a form of anticipation of the wave of positive cases of the corona virus (COVID-19) ahead of appearing at the 2020 European Cup. This time it was Kepa Arrizabalaga’s turn to join.
The COVID-19 storm has indeed threatened the Spanish squad after Sergio Busquets tested positive for the virus earlier this week. In fact, Luis Enrique’s team will soon play their inaugural group E match.
All other Spanish players has immediately tested for COVID-19 to anticipate the increase in positive cases. They will continue to be monitored every day.
In addition, Enrique also called five new players, namely Rodrigo Moreno, Pablo Fornals, Carlos Soler, Brais Mendez, and Raul Albiol. The five will be substitutes if there are other players who are infected with the corona virus.
Four of the five new players except Albiol have joined the Spanish national team’s training camp. But they are separated from the main squad bubble, La Furia Roja.
Not long after, Kepa Arrizabalaga was called on. Spain seems to be anticipating an increase in positive cases from the goalkeeper position.
Reporting from the Evening Standard, Kepa will land in Madrid on Tuesday (8/6) afternoon local time. He plans to go straight to practice the next day.
Enrique has actually chosen his three goalkeepers to compete in the 2020 European Cup. The three figures in question are David De Gea, Unai Simon, and Robert Sanchez.
Meanwhile, Kepa will automatically enter the main squad if one of the three players is infected with the corona virus. The worst possibility is still very likely to happen.
