Kevin De Bruyne Wants to Present Champions League Trophy for David Silva
By db-admin
DBasia.news – Kevin De Bruyne claims he wants to win the Champions League trophy and present it to David Silva, who will leave Manchester City.
Silva has four times led City to win the Premiere League among the 11 trophies he has presented since joining City in 2010, as well as one World Cup title and two European Cups with the Spanish national team.
The 34-year-old midfielder has never tasted a Champions League trophy but has one more chance to feel it with Pep Guardiola’s team after his contract expires this season.
City continued their work in the Champions League by hosting Real Madrid on August 7 after leading 2-1 in the first leg of the last 16. The winner of this round will advance to the quarterfinals at a neutral venue in Lisbon, Portugal.
De Bruyne scored twice in Silva’s last league match when City crushed Norwich 5-0 in the final match of the Premier League.
“For me he is one of the best players who have ever played in the Premiere League,” De Bruyne said as quoted by AFP.
“You can continue to debate who is number one but when you play with him you can appreciate what he does all the time. I have played with him for five years, a long time.”
“We have often won together, we played well together. We covered each other’s deficiencies very well in various ways,” he continued.
“And he is also a lovely person. He will be missed very much. It would be great if we could win the Champions League so that it could be a good end for him,” he added
City have scored four or more goals in six of the 12 matches since restarting English football last month and De Bruyne hopes it continues to a greater stage against Madrid, Juventus, Bayern Munich or Barcelona and then Paris Saint-German to finally win the Champions League .
“It’s good to stay on the beat. We have to continue at full speed. Now we have two weeks to fully prepare ourselves and we face another final.” He concluded.
