Klopp dislikes being compared to Rangnick

DBasia.news – The tactical clash of two followers of the Gegenpressing style became the main focus of the Liverpool-Manchester United duel, Wednesday (20/4). This has made Jurgen Klopp uncomfortable.

The postponed Premier League 2021-2022 match that will take place at Anfield is crucial for both teams. Liverpool and Manchester United both need to win although with different goals.

Victory in this match will take Liverpool up to the top of the standings. Although only temporarily, it certainly puts pressure on Manchester City.

Meanwhile, Manchester United also need additional points to maintain their chances of finishing in the top four. Defeat to Liverpool will make their path to achieving these targets even more challenging.

Klopp wants the spotlight to focus on these two interests. According to him, the tactical battle between himself and Ralf Rangnick is only a small part of this match.

“I can’t make this match a Klopp-Rangnick or Rangnick-Klopp fight. I respect him for everything he did during his career, because he did an amazing job wherever he was,” Klopp told the club’s official website.

“But when preparing for the game against United I didn’t think about Ralf. It’s a very important football game but the managers probably won’t score the decisive goals.”

The comparison between Klopp and Rangnick is unavoidable. Apart from both originating from Germany, both of them have a bond due to the Gegenpressing philosophy.

Klopp honestly admits that his playing style is inspired by Rangnick. No wonder the relationship between the two is often equated with the relationship between a teacher and a student.

Rangnick’s decision to accept Manchester United’s proposal made comparisons with Klopp even more inevitable. The two teams are known to have a hot rivalry.

“We have not had contact since he was in England, because he is at United. I think in our relationship there is only mutual respect,” Klopp concluded.
