DBasia.news – Barcelona coach, Ronald Koeman, commented on the Blaugrana’s victory when entertaining Dynamo Kyiv on matchday 3 of Group E of the 2021-2022 Champions League, at the Camp Nou Stadium, Wednesday (20/10). Koeman feels there is one weakness that must be corrected.
Barcelona finally won the Champions League this season thanks to a goal from Gerard Pique in the first half. With these results, Barca occupies the third position of the standings with three points. Barca are six points behind Bayern Munich who are at the top of the standings.
Despite winning, Koeman was dissatisfied with the appearance of his team. As he considers that Barca has wasted` a lot of opportunities. Based on statistics, Barca fired 11 shots.
“I think you have to realize after the break we created three clear chances. We can’t waste things. We played to keep our chances and we let them through,” Koeman told a news conference as reported by Marca.
“Thankfully we were perfect defensive. We were ahead but had to finish the game. After an hour, we should have been three or four goals ahead.”
One of the players who missed opportunities was Ansu Fati. However, Koeman tries to understand that a player of Fati’s age often make mistakes.
“His loss shows he still lacks something. That is normal,” Koeman explained.
“You have to think he’s been out for some time, injured and it takes time. Besides, he’ll be 19 on October 31.”
“You can’t ask him to solve what we missed and fill in the gaps left by Lionel Messi. You have to take it one step at a time. You can’t expect miracles,” added Ronald Koeman.
