LaLiga made Barcelona unable to purchase players
By db-admin
DBasia.news – Barcelona plans to be able to bring in several new players in the next winter transfer market as the Blaugrana collided with LaLiga regulations.
Failure to progress to the knockout stages of the Champions League has made Barcelona want to jump back into the transfer market. The coach, Xavi Hernandez, is dissatisfied with the player material he has.
Barcelona also have a task to find a new centre-back. This cannot be separated from Gerard Pique’s decision to retire.
Barcelona has been linked with a number of names. However, El Barca’s transfer mission could not be carried out due to the Financial Fair Play (FFP) regulations applied by LaLiga.
“We had to use some leverage to save the club from collapse and are currently recovering economically. Now our finances are in good health with an expected revenue of 1.225 billion euros and a budgeted profit of 274 million euros,” Barcelona president Joan Laporta told Mundo Deportivo.
“But even so, according to LaLiga’s financial fair play rules, we cannot bring in new players.”
LaLiga is indeed strict in implementing FFP regulations. Each club may only spend a quarter or 25% of the funds it has while in the red zone.
However, Barcelona have not backed down. Laporta is trying to persuade LaLiga to make the rules more flexible and allow them to bring in new players in January.
“We and several LaLiga clubs are also trying to convince LaLiga (operators) to be more flexible and allow us other types of interpretations that Barcelona can strengthen even more,” concluded Laporta.
