LaLiga President Accuses PSG of Cheating to Avoid FFP Violations

By db-admin

DBasia.news – Bad news returned to Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) who successfully landed many stars in the transfer market last summer. LaLiga president Javier Tebas accused Les Parisiens of cheating.

PSG did end the transfer market yesterday with great success. The French giants were able to land big-name players such as Achraf Hakimi, Georginio Wijnaldum, Sergio Ramos, Gianluigi Donnarumma, to Lionel Messi.

Amazingly, only Hakimi was brought in by issuing a transfer fee. While the other four names were obtained free of charge.

Despite being brought in for free, PSG is still considered by many parties to have violated Financial Fair Play (FFP) regulations. Their salary burden will swell significantly to pay for their new stars.

For information, Messi immediately won the status of the highest-paid player at PSG. He receives a fee of 31 million euros per year.

Players like Ramos, Donnarumma, to Hakmi of course also don’t get paid cheaply. Even though PSG also already has high-paid stars such as Neymar and Kylian Mbappe.

This is the basis for Tebas’ accusations. He believes that PSG’s expenses have actually far exceeded the value of their income.

“Right now, they (PSG) have a salary bill of close to 600 million euros when they have a league where audiovisual rights have dropped 40 per cent. Madrid can never be PSG because PSG cheat in financial control,” Tebas told Mundo Deportivo.

“It is impossible for PSG sponsors to generate 30 per cent more than the average income of Man United, Real Madrid and Barcelona. It’s absolutely impossible.”

PSG did benefit because UEFA relaxed the FFP rules during the pandemic. This is done because the majority of clubs hit by losses in the last year.

Teams as big as Barcelona and Madrid alone are heavily affected by this problem. The two Spanish giants have become passive in the last two transfer windows.
