LaLiga Support Villarreal, Solskjaer Criticizes the Premier League
By db-admin
DBasia.news – Manchester United manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has criticized the Premier League after learning LaLiga is supporting Villarreal ahead of the Europa League final.
When Manchester United played and beat Wolverhampton on Sunday (23/5) in the last day of the Premier League, Villareal had already rested because the match against Real Madrid was pushed forward to Saturday. The goal is so that Villarreal can focus on preparing for the match in Gdansk.
Solskjaer rotated almost his entire team at Molineux Stadium because United had already secured a second place finish. This was taken to give the first team time to prepare. Solskjaer admits he is concerned about seeing LaLiga help Villarreal, but the Premier League is not doing the same.
“Yes, of course we are thinking about Thursday,” said Solskjaer after the game.
“I think it’s quite sad that LaLiga moved all their matches to the previous day so that Villarreal can play a full strength team in the final,” he added.
“I think we can get that help. So I have to rotate players,” said Solskjaer.
Solskjaer also provided the latest information regarding the fitness of Harry Maguire who struggled to be fit in the final round.
“Maguire is still walking cautiously,” Solskjaer said of his captain. “I will give him until Wednesday afternoon to decide whether to play or not, but I do not expect too high.”
