Lampard Assesses Barkley and Kante as Equally Important
By db-admin
DBasia.news – Chelsea manager Frank Lampard thinks Ross Barkley is as important as N’Golo Kante. He reflected on the appearance of the player against Burnley.
Chelsea won 3-0 over Burnley at Stamford Bridge last weekend. In that match, Ross Barkley became a starter and played for 90 minutes. He replaces Kante who had problems with his hamstring before the match began.
“This is the performance we wanted from Ross Barkley, it was very positive. You see the quality on the ball. He can shoot the ball with his right foot, left foot, pick up the ball well. He looks confident. That’s part of Ross’s game that you can ask from the outside: How confident is he when things go against him?” Lampard said at Soccerway.
“We know exactly what Ross Barkley can do. He is an English player, he plays for Chelsea and rightly so. He has given me a lot of thought to do with that performance.”
“I do have problems with the selection of players, but everything is just as good. Ross is a choice where one might think: ‘Oh, Ross and Mason Mount in midfield?’ they both show why they have to be there,” Lampard added.
Barkley himself is recovering from an injury. This season, he has just defended the Blues in 11 matches in all competitions with a collection of two goals.
