By db-admin

DBasia.news – Timo Werner has yet to score a goal for Chelsea despite being awarded a penalty. The manager, Frank Lampard, gave his sympathy.

Timo Werner appeared in full when Chelsea faced Luton Town in the fourth round of the FA Cup on Sunday (24/1). The Blues won 3-1 with all of their goals scored by the striker, Tammy Abraham.

Timo Werner was not too bad. The German player was able to provide an assist for Tammy Abraham’s first goal.

The 24-year-old player also had a golden opportunity in the 86th minute. He received a penalty after being violated by Clark.

Timo Werner fired hard, but the direction was still read by Luton Town goalkeeper, Simon Sluga and was brushed off brilliantly. Werner failed to score, looking so frustrated.

No doubt, the German player has gone 11 games without goals in the Premier League. Werner must be in desperate need of an injection of confidence.

The Chelsea manager, Frank Lampard has sympathy for Timo Werner. To him, Werner was just out of luck.

“Werner missed a penalty, that’s all. I’ve also experienced something similar and know very well,” explained Lampard as quoted by the BBC.

“Overall, Werner is playing well. His movement helped the team,” he continued.

Frank Lampard emphasized that he will continue to be patient waiting for more goals to come from Timo Werner. Lampard also said that his teammates were also very helpful for Werner to score goals.

“It is my duty and my team mates to help him. Hopefully the time will come soon, to see him score against the goal again,” concluded Lampard.

Timo Werner has scored just nine goals in 27 appearances for Chelsea in all competitions.
