Lampard Still Puts Trust in Kepa Arrizabalaga

DBasia.news – Chelsea manager Frank Lampard was satisfied with Kepa Arrizabalaga’s performance at the Brighton & Hove Albion meeting. This he said even though the goalkeeper was considered to have contributed to The Seagulls’ goals.
Chelsea opened the Premier League this season with a 3-1 win over Brighton at Amex Stadium, Tuesday (9/15/2020). The Blues’ three winning goals in this match came from penalties from Jorginho, Reece James and Kurt Zouma.
Meanwhile, Brighton responded through goals from Leandro Trossard. Kepa was again in the spotlight when Trossard’s goal happened.
He is considered not alert enough to block the Belgian player’s long distance shot. This gave rise to the notion that Chelsea needed a new goalkeeper.
The reason is, Kepa’s performance has not been convincing since last season. Rennes goalkeeper Eduard Mendy was reportedly included in Chelsea’s shot.
Lampard emphasized that it was possible that Chelsea would bring in a new goalkeeper. Even so, he said that until now he still fully trusted Kepa.
This British man also refused to blame Kepa for Brighton’s goal against Chelsea. Lampard admitted that he was satisfied with the performance of the former Athletic Bilbao goalkeeper in this match.
“I’m very happy with Kepa. About the shot, I’m not sure he could have anticipated it any better. But I see he is a little more confident in playing,” said Lampard of Kepa as quoted by Sportskeeda.
“I’m happy with him, Kepa is here, he’s our guard and I’m happy with him. If we put a competition in his position, it’s purely a competition.”
“That’s the nature of Chelsea. It applies to the whole squad so we’ll see,” he said in the possibility of Chelsea signing a new goalkeeper.
