Lampard: We Were Cheated by VAR
By db-admin
DBasia.news – Frank Lampard, as Chelsea’s manager, said the match against Manchester United in the 2019-20 Premier League continued, at Stamford Bridge Stadium, Tuesday (18/02) early morning local time, there was cheating and an unfair referee who led the match.
Chelsea is helpless at Stamford Bridge after losing two goals without reply. The Red Devils scored two goals by Anthony Martial in the 45th minute and Harry Maguire in the 66th minute.
After the match, Frank Lampard assessed Manchester United should play with 10 players after Maguire violated Michy Batshuayi in the first round. However, after seeing VAR, Maguire was not expelled from the field.
“Harry Maguire should get a red card. Then, he scored the second goal and changed the course of the match,” said Lampard as reported by the Evening Standard.
“That is the main part of what is brought by the VAR. It was a mistake. I did not have a dialogue with the assistant referee because I had not seen it.
“It was just a wrong decision. It’s more difficult to violate the presence of VAR. That is the reason why he was brought in, loved, or hated,” the manager said.
In addition, Lampard also highlighted Kurt Zouma’s goal disallowed by VAR. The referee considered there had been a violation in advance at Brandon Williams by Cesar Azpilicueta.
“I thought, Zouma’s goal should have been valid. At first, I wasn’t sure. However, it was very clear,” Lampard explained.
Now, Chelsea is still ranked fourth in the standings. However, the Blues are only three points adrift of Man United who is in the seventh position.
