Le Tissier Discusses the Importance of Man United vs Liverpool in the Premier League title race

DBasia.news –  Manchester United will host Liverpool in week 27 of the Premier League at Old Trafford on Sunday (24/2) at 21.05 Western Indonesian Time.

The Liverpool and Man United meetings at Anfield previously plagued the Red Devils. They lost 1-3 and shortly afterward Jose Mourinho was sacked, replaced by Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.

Since then, Man United’s performance has increased dramatically. 13 matches were passed under Solskjaer in all competitions, 11 of which ended in victory, the rest drew (2-2 against Burnley) and lost (0-2 to PSG in the Champions League).

Manchester Red is not involved in the Premier League title race, but, they can determine how the fight for the 2018-19 Premier League title when visiting Liverpool at Anfield.

If Ashley Young and others can defeat the Reds, then there is the potential for confidence that Liverpool players will decline and be depressed due to pressure from rivals, Manchester City, who currently collect the same points (65 points) – Man City have one game ahead.

Matt Le Tissier, an English football icon and Southampton legend, has the same opinion. Chance   Liverpool won the Premier League title will be determined at Old Trafford.

“The road is still long and you will see interesting results along the way, the teams at the bottom also fight for their lives, they will try to get points from the top teams,” Le Tissier told Sky Sports.

“The match will be big from the Liverpool side and their current position in the Premier League, as well as their chances of winning the title. Obviously, the defeat can provide an initiative for Manchester City, and if that happens, City can continue to advance and win the title.”

“But if Liverpool win at Old Trafford, I think it will give them enormous confidence, and their position is safer in terms of league losses because if they continue to win from now until the end of the season, they will be hard to pursue,” said Le Tissier.

The fight will also be predicted to be exciting and interesting. The reason is, Man United is in good momentum under the direction of Solskjaer. It will not be easy for Liverpool to beat them.

“You must have impressed (with United) – every team that won 11 of 13 matches with only one defeat, against a very good PSG team, then you must have impressed them,” concluded Le Tissier.
