Leeds United Stops Aston Villa’s Unbeaten Record, Former Chelsea Striker Equalizes Eric Cantona’s Record

DBasia.news – Aston Villa’s unbeaten record must end in week six of the Premier League. Entertaining Leeds United at Villa Park, Saturday (24/10) in the morning WIB, the host must submit to a score of 0-3.

Patrick Bamford scored three Leeds United goals from Marcelo Bielsa in the 55th, 67th and 74th minutes. The former Chelsea striker became the star of the match from Leeds who released a total of 27 attempted kicks and nine of them were on target.

According to Opta Joe’s records, Bamford has now scored six goals for Leeds in the first six league games. The record was previously only owned by former Leeds player and Manchester United legend, Eric Cantona in the 1992-1993 season.

Bamford (27 years) is also the fifth player to score a goal hat-trick at Villa Park after Chris Sutton, Robbie Fowler, Gareth Bale and Sergio Aguero.

Plus he is the only Leeds player to have scored more than once away from home in the Premier League since Mark Viduka and Harry Kewell did so in April 2003 against Charlton. The victory lifted Leeds to third in the standings with 10 points.

“This is a dream come true. This is the fruit of the team’s hard work, without them I would not be able to score goals and Marcelo Bielsa gave me great confidence,” said Bamford after the game ended.

It took a long way back in 2002 to see Leeds’ top position in the league. Leeds have scored 12 Premier League goals so far and are the most from a promoted club after the first six games.

Meanwhile for Villa, the first defeat of the season ‘returned them to earth’ after winning a striking 7-2 victory over Liverpool who incidentally the defending Premier League champions. Dean Smith’s Villa is in second place in the standings with 12 points.
