DBasia.news – Daniel Amartey’s disgraceful action was taken when celebrating the 2020-2021 FA Cup title won by Leicester City. The 26-year-old player was caught on camera harassing the Chelsea logo.
Leicester successfully beat Chelsea with a score of 1-0 in the match which took place at Wembley Stadium, Saturday (15/5). Youri Tielemans scored the only goal in the victory of The Foxes.
This success was greeted with joy by the Leicester squad. However, Amartey’s excessive attitude was shown.
Amartey is seen throwing Chelsea’s vandel (a kind of small flag) while in the locker room. The moment was made when Wesley Fofana was broadcasting live on Instagram.
It didn’t take long for Amartey’s action to go viral. The player immediately received criticism from various parties.
Leicester then responded to this incident. The club immediately gave an official apology to Chelsea.
Reporting from Sky Sports, Chelsea has accepted the apology. The London club claims to have a good relationship with Leicester.
From the same report, Leicester will reportedly take firm action against Amartey’s behavior. The club will hold special talks with the player.
Brendan Rodgers’ response
Amartey’s action was initially unknown to Leicester manager Brendan Rodgers. He was very disappointed with this problem.
Rodgers is likely to park Amartey when he returns to meet Chelsea in the Premier League, Wednesday (19/5). It is not impossible that the Ghanaian national player’s career has ended at Leicester.
“It took years to eradicate this type of behavior and abuse. It is very disappointing that he had to do that,” said Rodgers.
