By news-admin
DBasia.news – Leicester City manager, Claude Puel, claimed he doesn’t want to sell his top goalkeeper, Kasper Schmeichel. Previously, the 31-year-old goalkeeper is rumored to replace Thibaut Courtois position as Chelsea goalkeeper.
Kasper Schmeichel performed impressively with Denmark national team during the 2018 World Cup. This triggers some clubs to set the eyes on him, including Chelsea.
Chelsea’s interest in Schmeichel is reasonable, as Courtois is getting closer to Real Madrid.
But, Puel refuses that The Foxes has the intention to sell Schmeichel. Though already have Liverpool goalkeeper Danny Ward worth £12,5M.
“Of course Kasper is a very important player for us. He had a very strong World Cup,” said Puel reported by FourFourTwo.
“We need Kasper, with his character, his performance, and his consistency. No, there is no problem with this. There is a lot of speculation at this moment, it is normal.”
“I think he can bring more competition to the squad and more possibilities. It is a good thing to have competition between players in the squad to develop desire,” he added.
Leicester City just gave £1,5M to get Kasper Schmeichel from Leeds United back in 2010-2011 season. Currently, the son of Peter Schmeichel is in contract until June 2021.
