DBasia.news – Since last season, Laurent Koscielny got an Achilles injury who forced him to bench for a long time and even absence supporting France national team in the 2018 World Cup. Koscielny was busy recovering when the Arsenal players enjoy the honeymoon with Unai Emery.
The 33-year-old defender just returned to the pitch last weekend, when Arsenal won 1-0 against Huddersfield Town and continued the unbeaten match to be 21 times of all competitions.
Arsenal goalkeeper Bernd Leno doesn’t know Koscielny really well because he just joined this season from Bayer Leverkusen. However, Leno sees him as the perfect captain for Arsenal.
“Of course, it is difficult for me to compare before (Koscielny’s injury) because I was not here, but in training, you see how he is talking to other players. We have many young players, he talks to them and, for me, he is a big personality in the team, in the dressing room,” Leno said.
“Before (playing) against Tottenham, he was not in the squad but five minutes before the game he said many, many good things about the history of the game, how important it is for the fans, the club, every player, so he is the perfect captain for us,” he said in Goal.
Koscielny’s return is just in time. Unai Emery has one additional option in the defensive line after the injury of Rob Holding. Emery could place Koscielny with Shkodran Mustafi and Sokratis Papastathopoulos in three defenders strategy.
