Leonardo Bonucci asks Italian fans to stop mocking players
By db-admin
DBasia.news – Leonardo Bonucci asks Azzurri supporters to stop making fun of national team players.
Back in 2021, goalkeeper Gianluigi Donnarumma was mocked on his return to the San Siro, and now Italy will face England in Milan on Saturday (24/9).
“Anyone who mocks an Italian national team player is for me a brainless person, even though at that time the player represented the whole nation,” Bonucci told reporters.
“Donnarumma wasn’t the first to be booed and he won’t be the last. From a cultural point of view, we have to be more mature.”
Donnarumma caused controversy when he left boyhood club, AC Milan to join Paris Saint-Germain on a free transfer in 2021, and local fans expressed their feelings last year.
Italian fans deserve to be disappointed by the failure of Roberto Mancini’s side to qualify for the World Cup in March, just months after becoming European champions.
The victory over England in the UEFA Nations League match later will more or less help lift the spirits.
The international break offered time for Bonucci to forget his poor start to the season.
Ultras Juventus recently wrote an open letter to the defender, claiming that he has “never been a leader and never will be!”
