Lewandowski wins the Gerd Muller trophy
By db-admin
DBasia.news – Robert Lewandowski, Barcelona striker, said he wasn’t done when asked if Erling Haaland could beat him for the trophy next season.
The Polish player earned the newly created Gerd Muller Trophy at the Ballon d’Or award. The trophy was awarded to the season’s top scorer and was claimed by Lewandowski after he scored 57 goals in 56 games for club and country.
Lewandowski was asked if Erling Haaland could possibly beat him to the award next season, but he insists that he is ready to take on a challenge from the new Manchester City star.
“This season has been lengthy. For me, this is also a new chapter with Barcelona and from day one I feel very good at this club. I can see it is there for me, a big challenge. I feel great, I see that with my team-mates, we have great potential,” said Lewandowski.
“I had the opportunity to score a lot of goals and I’m sure that overall we are working on this. This is football. You always have to be ready. I know new competitions are coming too, but still, I’m still here and I haven’t said the last word.”
Lewandowski started the 2022-23 season in normally productive form for Barcelona, scoring 14 goals in 13 games for Xavi’s side.
Meanwhile, Haaland has adapted to life in England seamlessly and scored 20 goals for his new club in the same number of games.
Lewandowski hopes to add to his nine goals in La Liga this season when the Catalan giants return to action on Friday (21/10) WIB against Villarreal.
