FIFA holds an annual gala in Milan, Italy, on Monday (9/23) evening local time. The event was the best individual award throughout 2019.
There are several categories at the FIFA event. Of course the most prestigious is the best men’s footballers and the best men’s coaches.
Lionel Messi came out as the winner of the 2019 FIFA Player of the Year. The success of winning LaLiga with Barcelona and leading the Argentina national team to be ranked third in the 2019 Copa America was the reason.
In that number, Lionel Messi defeated two other finalists. The two finalists besides Messi are Liverpool’s defender Virgil van Dijk, as well as Messi’s eternal rival, Cristiano Ronaldo.
Premier League representatives dominated the nomination of the best FIFA coach in 2019. The three finalists are working in the UK at the moment, Jurgen Klopp, Pep Guardiola, and Mauricio Pochettino.
In the end, the event was won by Jurgen Klopp. Understandably, the German manager helped Liverpool win the Champions League for the first time since 2004-2005.
