Lionel Messi Must Be Patient Looking forward to His 700th Goal Moment

By db-admin

DBasia.news – Lionel Messi failed to score a goal when Barcelona won the match against Athletic Bilbao with a score of 1-0 at Camp Nou on Wednesday (6/24). He must be patient again waiting for the 700th goal moment in his career.

Messi actually only needs one more goal to make this happen. But he has failed on two matches which are the match against Sevilla and Bilbao.

The only goal of Barcelona’s victory in the match was scored by Ivan Rakitic in the 71st minute. Messi also contributed to the goal providing assist.

Although not scoring goals, Messi actually posted a new record in his career. His assist to Rakitic is the 15th this season.

During the 2019-2020 season, Messi has recorded 21 goals and 15 assists. Reporting from Squawka, this is the fifth season of La Pulga able to score a minimum of 15 goals and 15 assists.

Previously, Messi did the same thing in the 2010-2011 season (31 goals, 18 assists), 2011-2012 (50 goals, 16 assists), 2014-2015 (43 goals, 18 assists), 2015-2016 (26 goals, 16 assists). This statistic proves the complete capabilities of the Argentinian superstar.

If calculated from the 2006-2007 season, only four players have ever done the same thing. The four players are Eden Hazard, Cristiano Ronaldo, Luis Suarez, and Jadon Sancho.

Hazard made a similar score twice in the 2011-2012 season (20 goals, 16 assists) and 2018-2019 (16 goals, 15 assists). The Belgian player did it with two different clubs which are Lille and Chelsea.

Cristiano Ronaldo did it in the 2014-2015 season when he was in Real Madrid uniform. He recorded 48 goals and 16 assists.

Luis Suarez who became Messi’s teammate at Barcelona also did not want to miss. The Uruguay bomber recorded 40 goals and 16 assists in the 2015-2016 season.

Jadon Sancho is the latest name to do it. Borussia Dortmund’s winger scored 17 goals and 16 assists throughout this 2019-2020 season.

Messi has the opportunity to increase the number of his goals and assists this season because LaLiga still has seven matches left. It is not impossible the 33-year-old player was able to record up to 20 assists to pass his personal record.
