DBasia.news – Argentina National Team star Lionel Messi talked about his country’s chances of competing in the Qatar 2022 World Cup, November to December.
Messi says he continues to prepare well with the Argentine national team ahead of the 2022 World Cup.
“Argentina can compete with anyone. I’m not saying we are big favorites to lift the World Cup, but we are ready,” said Messi.
The Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) player said that currently the Argentine national team has good capital in the World Cup after winning the Copa America title.
According to him, it is a challenge for the Argentine national team to be able to talk a lot at the 2022 World Cup after in the previous event they could only reach the round of 16.
“I feel comfortable when we are together with the national team, everything flows. We all know what our role is and what we have to do,” said Messi.
On the possibility of the 2022 World Cup being his last participation in this quadrennial event, Messi said he has not decided and will see what happens next.
“Right now I’m thinking about this one (World Cup 2022), then we’ll see. Football changes from day one to the next,” Messi explained.
“I think it’s difficult to play next, but I haven’t made a decision yet. Sometimes they kill me because they protest that I don’t run much. I don’t know what I’ll be like when I’m 38.”
At the World Cup, Argentina was recorded as the champion in 1978 and 1986, long before La Pulga joined La Albiceleste.
Throughout his career with the Argentine national team, Messi’s best record was second place at the 2014 World Cup in Brazil, where they lost to Germany 0-1 in the final.
Since making his debut at the age of 18 with the Argentine national team, Messi has appeared in 160 games and was able to contribute 81 goals and 49 assists.
