DBasia.news – Lionel Messi’s future in Argentina national team is even more questioned. Apparently, Argentina temporary coach, Lionel Scaloni, announced that the Barcelona player won’t join the friendly match next month.
Practically, Messi, 31, has absented when Argentina had the friendly match against Guatemala and Colombia this month. Now, with the exclude of Messi, he will also miss the friendly match against Iraq on October 11 and Brasil 5 days later.
“Spoke with him (Messi) and we continue to think it’s best that he doesn’t come, he won’t be called,” Scaloni told Fox Sports.
Without Messi, Scaloni expects the players can show the best performance in the two upcoming matches.
“We are in a different stage and these kids (that will be called) have to keep wearing the Argentina shirt to see what they can do, that’s the most important thing,” Scaloni continued.
Practically, the last time Messi played for Argentina was when he got defeated in the round of 16 in 2018 World Cup. As we know, so far, Messi still has the top-scorer record with Argentina: 65 goals from 128 matches.
Messi was also condemned due to his absence during the FIFA Best Player Awards in London.
