DBasia.news – Throughout his life, La Pulga or Lionel Messi plays for FC Barcelona. Remembering his first contract with Barcelona, there was an interesting history behind the contract that was written on a napkin.

The story started when Barcelona’s high-official, Carles Rexach, had a meal with Messi’s representative in Spain, Horacio Gaggioli and the agent, Josep Maria Minguella. After all the parties reached the deal, Rexach had no paper to write the contract. So, he chose to write in the napkin instead.

“In Barcelona, on December 14, 2000 and in the presence of Messrs. Minguella and Horacio, Carlos Rexach, Technical Secretary of F.C.B. is committed under his responsibility and despite some opinions against signing the player Lionel Messi as long as we maintain the agreed amounts,” said the contract.

At that time, Messi was still in his hometown, Rosario, playing for Newell’s Old Boys. Barcelona have been eyeing his talent, but the President at that moment, Joan Gaspart, didn’t give the green light to finish the transfer.

Eventually, Gaggiola threatened to offer Messi to the rival, Real Madrid as the upset reaction toward Blaugrana. The trick worked out, Barcelona finished the transfer.

After that, in less than two months, Messi arrived in Barcelona. La Pulga’s golden path has started.

Now, Lionel Messi is 31. He has created more than 500 goals and brought Barcelona achieved all the prestigious titles in the club level just like Champions League, LaLiga, and FIFA World Cup Club.
