Lisandro Martines is Recommended not to Join Arsenal
By db-admin
DBasia.news – In the transfer market this summer Arsenal have recruited quite a number of players. But now they are observing Ajax Amsterdam and Lisandro Martinez who is also being targeted by Manchester United.
Arsenal and Man United are ready to have a price war to give to Ajax, as Man United also really wants him on the direct recommendation of former Ajax coach, Erik ten Hag. Reportedly Man United has submitted 40 million pounds.
However, according to former Ajax player Marciano Vink, Martinez was not advised to join Arsenal. Because the Gunners already have two central defenders, Ben White and Gabriel, who are solid and have good communication.
Vink thinks that Martinez is playing well at Ajax because he is in tandem with Jurrien Timber, he is also a good attack builder with typical modern defenders and is also tough. But if Martinez goes to Arsenal then he will only be a substitute.
“Martinez is a great and tough defender, he showed that in the Argentine team too. I think the system and the way Ajax played and the combination with Timber made him a better player. They are two pit bulls standing there,” Vink told Voetbalpraat.
“He has a great pass and creates a good build-up. He saw the game well. I just want to know if he is really fit to play in England. I prefer to see him in the Spanish League. I think it suits him better.”
“You never know, of course, but if there’s so much economic gain to be had, Ajax should always focus on the next one. I think 40 million euros is definitely negotiable. I think White is good, and Gabriel is still developing. Neither of them are brilliant builders.”
“He’s going to be signed in for left centre-back and I don’t think they’re going to take Gabriel out at Arsenal just like that. If they sign Martinez, I think they will get him on the bench.”
