DBasia.news – Liverpool fans welcome back two of the team’s defenders who have been out for a long time through injury. They are Virgil van Dijk and Joe Gomez. Both appeared in a test match against Hertha Berlin in Austria, Friday (30/07).

Liverpool lost 3-4 in that match, but his second comeback from injury was the sight Liverpool fans had been waiting for. Jurgen Klopp is also happy to see them back in action.

“It (the comeback of Gomez and Van Dijk) is a nice feeling. 260 days more for Virg and no less for Joe they are out of football, so it’s nice to have them back. That’s the first step and very important,” said Klopp quoted by BBC Sport.

Van Dijk (30 years) has been sidelined for nine months following surgery on the ligament (ACL) following an injury against Everton last October, after being hit by Everton goalkeeper Jordan Pickford.

Gomez, 24, is out for eight months after injuring his knee while training with England in November. The absence of both added to Liverpool’s central defender crisis last season as Joel Matip was also injured.

Liverpool conceded 42 goals in 38 games and failed to defend the Premier League title. Even the club to recruit Ozan Kabak and Ben Davies in January to fill the position. Now Liverpool’s central defender position is filled with many players.

Virgil van Dijk’s message

The former Southampton defender also expressed his happiness at being able to play again for Liverpool. Don’t forget Van Dijk sent a message of thanks to all those who supported him when he was injured.

“285 days ago, I started my journey back to play. It’s difficult to express my feelings but it’s important for me to say that I feel blessed to have the support of so many amazing people,” Van Dijk said via Twitter.

“Surgeons, my physiotherapists, coaches and staff who have been with me from day one. My teammates for giving me energy and keeping my head up.”

“The fans for their love, support and encouragement. And most importantly, my family because without them I am nothing. Thank you. The work doesn’t stop now. It’s just begun. We keep going!” With Ibrahima Konate recruited from RB Leipzig, Liverpool now have a capable stock in the central defender position. Allegedly Liverpool will loan young defenders like Nathaniel Phillips or Rhys Williams to other clubs.
