Liverpool is considered to be a tough competitor for Manchester City next season

By db-admin

DBasia.news – This season Liverpool has been scattered from the title competition. Next season they can still be the strongest challengers for Manchester City, but with conditions.

Liverpool are struggling to follow the Premier League competition this season. ‘The Reds’ are currently in seventh position with 54 points from 33 matches, 26 points behind Manchester City who are just one step away from winning.

Liverpool have the risk in failing to qualify for the Champions League next season, considering that currently they are still seven points behind Chelsea (34 matches). Juergen Klopp’s squad needs to wipe out the remaining five matches, while hoping rivals such as Chelsea, Tottenham Hotspur and West Ham United will slip.

Former Liverpool defender Jamie Carragher believes Mohamed Salah and his team mates will still be Manchester City’s strongest challengers next season. They just need Virgil van Dijk to be fit and assign one top player to add quality to the team.

Currently Liverpool are being linked with Kylian Mbappe (Paris Saint-Germain) and Jadon Sancho (Borussia Dortmund).

“Next season I think Liverpool will still be the strongest challengers, but it all depends on the summer recruits and who is brought in,” he told Sky Sports as quoted by Metro.

“I’m certainly thinking of Juergen Klopp, the players who have been there, and the titles won before, and the return of Van Dijk that might have made me, along with Kevin de Bruyne, the two best players in the Premier League in the last two or three years.”

“So if you bring in someone to add that quality and he plays as he normally plays, Liverpool will be much stronger. They will have the advantage to challenge Man City next season,” added the man who is now an analyst.
