DBasia.news – Liverpool continued to lose at Anfield. In Week 29 of the Premier League against Chelsea, Friday (05/03) am, WIB, the Reds lost 0-1 from a single goal scored by Mason Mount (42 ‘).
Liverpool dominated the game with 55% possession compared to Chelsea’s 45%. But from seven attempts, only one shot was on target and did not test Edouard Mendy.
Jurgen Klopp considered the defeat to Chelsea as a crushing blow and asked Liverpool to immediately return to their winning ways.
“Mason Mount’s individual quality at that moment made the difference. It was a tight match, an intense game. The two teams invested a lot. That’s quite a lot,” Klopp told Sky Sports.
“They have a goal they scored offside. In the second half there was a counter-attack, we had more situations, which were great with Sadio Mane and other situations where we didn’t score.”
“You have to defend differently and we didn’t do well there. There are a lot of things out there that you have to consider.”
“In the end, we conceded one goal, we made mistakes there, the others were offside and you can say it’s a good defense but with all the possession we have you need to have more chances.”
“Everything was really good right up to the last pass. Unfortunately we can’t just say that at home. It’s not about Anfield or anything, it’s generally, too often.”
“At crucial moments, we have to improve. We have to show our quality at the moment and we don’t do it often enough. This result is a big blow. The season is not over. We have to win football games,” stated Klopp.
The increase in Liverpool’s negative record at Anfield
Liverpool have really felt the impact of the magical ’12th player’ at Anfield. There are no viewers because of the corona virus pandemic. It can be seen from the negative record Liverpool has recorded this season at Anfield.
For the first time in the history of the founding of the Liverpool club, they swallowed five consecutive defeats at Anfield in the Premier League, or the top division of English football. They are also defending champions who have that record.
Now Liverpool have gone through seven games without ever winning at Anfield, drawing against West Brom and Manchester United before losing to Burnley, Brighton, Man City, Everton and Chelsea.
The Merseyside Red also won 10 points from the possible 33 points that could be achieved in 2021. There are only three three points lower than them, namely West Brom, Newcastle United and Southampton.
Liverpool are currently in seventh place in the standings with 43 points from 27 matches, four points adrift of Chelsea who are fourth in the standings.
