DBasia.news – Liverpool had to settle for bringing one point away to Amex Stadium, Brighton & Hove Albion headquarters, Saturday (28/11) pm. Winning first through Diogo Jota’s goal in the 60th minute, Liverpool had to accept a draw after Pascal Gross scored the equalizer through the white spot at the end of the match.
In this match the Liverpool manager gave Takumi Minamino the opportunity to undergo his first match as a starter in the Premier League. Klopp made a change by carrying out a 4-2-3-1 formation by resting Sadio Mane and captain, Jordan Henderson.
The hosts made two changes compared to the team that defeated Aston Villa. Former Liverpool player, Adam Lallana sits on the bench, while Danny Wellbeck and Neal Maupay are believed to be the spear duo.
Liverpool, who were limping, played unusually. The solid back line is now easy to penetrate. The Brighton players were able to force Liverpool goalkeeper, Allison out of his nest many times.
The host had surprised the Reds’ back line. In the 10th minute, Aaron Connolly escaped the offside trap when receiving a ball from midfield. Unfortunately, Connolly failed to maximize his chances even though he only had to be one on one with Liverpool goalkeeper, Alisson.
After nine minutes, Liverpool’s goal was again threatened. The Seagulls were awarded a penalty after Neco Williams brought down Connolly. However, Neal Maupay, who is believed to be the executor of the penalty kick, failed to carry out his duties properly. Maupay kicked the ball off the left side of the goal.
Liverpool tried to control the game. However, despite registering possession of the ball up to 65% and three shots.
Liverpool actually had time to tear the home team’s goal, to be precise in the 35th minute. After receiving a breakthrough bait from Firmino, Salah immediately pushed and took advantage of the gaps in The Seagulls’ back line before beating Brighton goalkeeper, Mat Ryan.
However, after viewing the VAR, the referee annulled the goal as Salah was already standing in an offside position when Firmino released the ball.
The goalless draw remained until the first half ended.
In the second half Liverpool played with a higher defensive line. As a result, at the beginning of the second half Liverpool were more in control than the first half.
However, the Brighton was able to make the first chance in the second half through Welbeck’s action in the 54th minute. However, Alisson tamed the ball from Welbeck’s shot from the right side.
After six minutes, Liverpool opened the scoring. Diogo Jota continued his positive trend by contributing goals after receiving Mohamed Salah’s pass. This is Jota’s eighth goal in the last eight games.
Being behind one goal, Brighton is increasingly having trouble controlling the ball. Meanwhile, Liverpool was able to control the game with ball possession up to 69% entering the 70th minute.
In the 83rd minute, Liverpool managed to break into Brighton’s goal through Sadio Mane’s header. But after obtaining VAR’s input, the referee did not authorize the goal as Mane was already in an offside position when Robertson released a free kick.
Disaster came for Liverpool at the end of the match. Referee Stuart Atwell awarded Brighton another penalty after receiving assistance from VAR. After seeing the recording, the referee judged Robertson to have committed a foul on Welbeck. Pascal Gross, who became Brighton’s penalty executioner, successfully carried out his duties.
The 1-1 draw score did not change until the match was over. With this draw. Liverpool have temporarily climbed to the top of the standings with 21 points from ten games, one ahead of Tottenham Hotspur, who have only undergone nine games.
