Liverpool passed four matches without winning
By db-admin
DBasia.news – Liverpool’s downturn continues after they were forced to go through four consecutive Premier League matches without a win after smothering hosts Wolverhampton Wanderers 3-0 at the Molineux Stadium.
Meeting with Wolves is the third time for Liverpool in one month. In the previous two matches in the FA Cup, Liverpool drew 2-2, and in the replay won 1-0.
This time, it was Wolves’ turn to obtain a convincing victory. Liverpool’s poor performance at the start of the match made Wolves two goals ahead. First through Joel Matip’s own goal just five minutes into the match, and Craig Dawson doubled the lead seven minutes later.
It was hoped that Darwin Nunez and Cody Gakpo would respond to the loss, but it was the Wolves who managed to widen the lead and ensure victory through Ruben Neves in the 71st minute.
Failure to gain three points in four consecutive games has made Liverpool worse off in the standings. Jurgen Klopp’s team are now in tenth place with 29 points.
Conversely, the victory made the Wolves back out of the red zone after being evicted by Everton. Wolves are now ranked 15th after collecting 20 points.
Liverpool have conceded more goals in the first five minutes than any other team in the Premier League this season when Joel Matip scored an own goal. Liverpool also lost three consecutive away games for the first time since 2012. A big problem for the Reds’ defense.
The victory over Liverpool became a valuable capital for Wolves to have an away match against the host Southampton, Saturday (11/2). Meanwhile, Liverpool must be able to stop their minor record when they play the Merseyside derby against Everton, Tuesday (14/2) am, WIB.
