Looking for a Coach, Fiorentina targets Daniel De Rossi

By db-admin

DBasia.news – Fiorentina is reportedly seeking for a coach for the 2020/2021 season. The name of the former AS Roma captain, Daniele De Rossi, became the first choice.

De Rossi (36 years old) has retired from playing in 2020 after five months playing with Argentine club, Boca Juniors. Previously, the Rome academy products spent his career defending the Giallorossi from 2001 to 2019.

Rome’s living legend played 616 appearances during his 18 years at the Italian Capital club, making him the second player with the most appearances after Francesco Totti. De Rossi also has 117 caps with the Italian national team and won the 2006 World Cup.

Despite not having a coaching record, Fiorentina still hopes to be coached by De Rossi next season, as the club’s performance did not improve under the direction of Giuseppe Iachini. Currently Fiorentina is in 14th place from 29 matches in the Serie A and six points adrift of the relegation zone.

De Rossi’s great experience as a player is expected to develop Fiorentina next season, especially as the club has talented players like Federico Chiesa, Nikola Milenkovic, and Gaetano Castrovilli.

If Fiorentina does choose De Rossi, he must immediately begin to take coaching license. Fiorentina could be the right club to start his coaching career and apply knowledge from the results of his studies with Pep Guardiola’s game.

De Rossi was not in the same era as Pep Guardiola, but De Rossi had seen Guardiola play with Roma in mid-2002-2003. Not only seeing his action directly, De Rossi has watched Guardiola lunge as a coach and never received knowledge from him directly.

“I admire him, like everyone else, the Tiki taka game amazes Barcelona. I practiced at Trigoria (in the past) when Pep explained to me how my body should receive the ball and how to play it,” De Rossi said on the Gianluca Di Marzio website.

“He already has Barca’s game in mind and tries to explain it to me.”

He will try to apply that knowledge at Fiorentina. Applying it is easier said than done, even so with high confidence, De Rossi can be like Guardiola, Zinedine Zidane, or Gennaro Gattuso who underwent a career as a coach after retiring.

“I will start this path (coaching career) not only because I like it, but because I really think I can do it,” De Rossi concluded.
