Losing to Bayern Munich, Ronald Koeman admits he lacks strikers

By db-admin

DBasia.news – Barcelona coach, Ronald Koeman, assessed that his team lacked attackers when they lost 0-3 to Bayern Munich on Matchday 1 of Group E of the 2021-2022 Champions League, at the Camp Nou Stadium, Wednesday (15/9) am, WIB. Koeman believes, Barcelona will be much better off with young players who are increasingly mature.

Barcelona again failed to get out of the clutches of Bayern Munich. After losing 8-2 at the last meeting, this time Gerard Pique and his team mates were crushed 3-0. Thomas Muller and Robert Lewandowski scored all three of Di Roten’s goals (2).

One thing that is striking is the inability of Barcelona to release a single shot against Bayern. It was Barca’s worst record since at least 2003-2004.

Ronald Koeman did not deny that Bayern Munich had better players. In addition, the lack of choice in the attack line is also a problem.

“There were only three strikers available. Tactically, there are times where we are in control. Bayern’s game is in the middle third and you have to fill the gaps there,” said Koeman as reported by Marca.

“For now it is. I can’t complain about the attitude of the players. However, there is a difference in quality,” continued Koeman.

“Bayern are a team that as a team have been together for some time. They have also improved on the bench side.”

“We have a lot of young players who in the next two to three years will be even better. It’s very difficult to accept it, but we have to wait for good things and players to recover from injuries,” said Koeman.

“That’s how it is. We spent a few moments like this because in the end we will have players like Sergio Aguero, Ousmane Dembele and Ansu Fati.”

Koeman continued, Barcelona did need to be patient to cut the distance from other elite teams. “There are players who are 19 or 20 years old,” stated Koeman.

“If you compare with the players that Bayern have, there is a difference. Over time, the difference will be smaller,” added Ronald Koeman.

The poor result also made Barcelona lose for the first time in three consecutive home games in European competition. Previously, Barca also lost to Juventus and Paris Saint-Germain.
