Losing to Getafe, Ancelotti doesn’t want to blame the referee

DBasia.news – Real Madrid coach, Carlo Ancelotti was reluctant to use the referee as an excuse for his team’s defeat against Getafe in the 2021-2022 LaLiga match, at the Coliseum Alfonso Perez Stadium, Sunday (2/1). According to him, the bitter result was reaped because of El Real’s own actions.
Real Madrid appeared to dominate against Getafe. Madrid controlled the ball up to 74% and fired 14 shots. However, Enes Unal’s goal in the 9th minute made the hosts smile.
In this duel, a lot of attention was directed to the referee who led the match. A number of harsh violations from Getafe players in the first half did not result a yellow card. Then, Carlo Ancelotti actually received a yellow card for protesting too loudly.
However, Ancelotti did not want to use it as an excuse. Ancelotti realized, Madrid did not play well.
“This defeat was not due to the referee. If we played better maybe the referee’s decision would have no effect. However, the fact is not so (because we played badly),” said Ancelotti on Madrid’s official website.
“We finished the first half with two yellow cards. In my opinion, one is unnecessary and one for Rodrygo,” he said.
Ancelotti believes this defeat does not need to go on for too long. Madrid is still at the top of the standings with 46 points from 20 matches.
“We must not be excessive in responding to this defeat. We are still at the top of the table and face the game ahead with high motivation,” explained Ancelotti.
“We responded well after conceding in the 10th minute. Then we got nervous. We lost the ball too many times and lost in individual duels.”
