Lucas De Vega Asked to Join the Barcelona First Team

By db-admin

DBasia.news – Xavi Hernandez’s debut as Barcelona coach will be special because he will immediately lead the team in the Catalunya Derby against Espanyol on LaLiga week 14, Sunday (21/11).

The formula or the first line-up will still be awaited by Barcelona supporters, but at this time the former Al Sadd coach is still trying to understand his squad and find solutions to the storm of injuries in the Barca main squad.

La Masia products or young people who play at Barcelona B are always the first option to look at, apart from trying to recruit players in the transfer market. Like Ronald Koeman, so did Xavi.

As reported by Sport-English, one name from Barca B caught the attention of the Barcelona legend. He is a 21-year-old midfielder, Lucas de Vega, who Xavi called up to train in the Blaugrana’s first team.

De Vega was born in Brazil and has been in Barcelona since 2011. Just as Xavi was still active in the past, De Vega has become a concern for his development because he has the same style of play.

De Vega has great vision, and while playing better on the left side of the game, he can also play different positions including a deep-lying midfielder.

This season De Vega has started six of 11 matches for Barca B. Talented talent seems to have been monitored by other European clubs, but De Vega decided to stay despite two years ago reportedly being offered by Tottenham Hotspur.

La Masia Facts This Season

If De Vega is later given his debut by Xavi against Espanyol, it will further confirm the fact that this season Barca have become the team that has relied the most on debutants from the academy.

Barca has given the opportunity for four debutants who in fact La Masia products have played this season, it exceeds other top European clubs. The four players given the opportunity to appear by Koeman previously were Gavi, Nico Gonzalez, Abde Ezzalzouli, and Alejandro Balde.

The belief that the La Masia alumnus appears cannot be separated from the fact that Barca’s financial difficulties this season have resulted in the lack of maneuvering in the transfer market. Moreover, many Barca players are also absent due to injury.

Even so for Barcelona, La Masia is not just a place to find replacements for those injured in the first team, because many talents were born there and are famous today.

They are like Xavi, Andres Iniesta, Lionel Messi, Sergio Busquets, Carles Puyol and others. No doubt this season from the product side of La Masia, it is a good opportunity to add experience and playing hours.
