Luka Modric won’t beg to stay at Real Madrid

By db-admin

DBasia.news – Luka Modric still has ambitions to stay at Real Madrid. However, the 37-year-old player refuses to beg to make that wish come true.

As is known, Modric is a mainstay midfielder for Madrid for almost a decade. He has won 22 prestigious trophies including five Champions League titles.

But Modric’s contract at Madrid will expire at the end of the season. There has been no sign of Los Blancos management in offering an extension of his tenure.

The signal that Madrid will release Modric is starting to appear. His playing time has begun to decrease.

But Modric did not lose hope. He believes he is still worthy to be relied on by Madrid, even though he is aging.

“I can’t say anything because I haven’t spoken to the club, like last season. Of course I want to stay but because I deserve it, not because I’m Luka Modric?” Modric said at a press conference ahead of the match against Liverpool.

“I want the club to renew my contract because I deserve it and not because of my history. I don’t want the club to give me any gifts.”

Modric realized that Madrid was carrying out a regeneration process. Many young players have been signed in recent seasons.

But the Croatian midfielder refuses to give up his place to a younge player without a fight. He responded with maximum performance on the field.

Throughout this season, Modric has appeared 31 times in all competitions. He was able to record six goals and three assists.

“I will do everything I can to give my best and deserve to continue at Real Madrid. I can’t do more,” he added.

Modric’s opportunity to obtain a contract extension is actually still open. His experience is still needed to guide young players.

Modric also still has the support of his coach, Carlo Ancelotti. he without hesitation recommended management to hold back the departure of his players.

“Modri? has the career he has and continues to show it. He struggled a bit in January but now he is back to his best and I think he will continue to improve,” said Ancelotti.

“I’m sure he will get it (a contract extension) because his fitness is great and he is also hungry to continue playing at Real Madrid.”
