DBasia.news –  Thibaut Courtois, Real Madrid goalkeeper, is back in the spotlight after the European Cup 2020 Qualifying match against Russia at the Heysel Stadium on Friday (3/22) early morning Western Indonesian Time. Not a positive spotlight, Courtois was ridiculed for blundering.

Belgium lead 1-0 after Youri Tielemans scored in the 14th minute. However, just two minutes later, Courtois made a controversial action which led to the visitors’ goal.

Receiving a ball from his partner, Courtois chose to lead to the right, but the pressure from Artem Dzyuba made him nervous. As a result, the ball headed to Denis Cheryshev and was struck into the empty goal.

Luckily, Belgium was able to get up and score two goals through Eden Hazard’s action. The 2018 World Cup semifinalist won with a score of 3-1.

After the incident, Courtois’ Twitter was flooded with ridicule from fans. They don’t hesitate to call Courtois like Mr. Bean.

“Courtois here plays like Mr. Bean,” Manelisi explained. “Very good. Very helpful,” Kev said jokingly.

Chelsea fans, Bill Johnson, tried to compare the performance of Courtois with the new goalkeeper, Kepa Arrizabalaga. “Great legwork tonight for Russia’s first goal. Kepa is number one!”

Other Twitter users juxtapose the action of Courtois with a blunder by Loris Karius during the Champions League final between Liverpool and Real Madrid. “Karius is just here.”

Courtois’ appearance increasingly adds to the darkness of his career in Real Madrid. Because Keylor Navas has displaced the position of Courtois as the main keeper of El Real.
