Man City Don’t Suit Champions League Winner Candidate if Seeing Bayern Munich’s Performance

By db-admin

DBasia.news – Instead of Manchester City, Pep Guardiola views defending champions Bayern Munich as more worthy of being a favorite in the Champions League this season.

City continued their trengginas performance by beating Borussia Monchengladbach 2-0 in the first leg of the UCL round of 16 on Thursday (25/2), to compile 19 wins without breaking up in all competitions.

Naturally, Bernardo Silva et al. began to be predicted to realize quadruple winners, including winning the Champions League for the first time in history.

However, Guardiola is reluctant to say anything and feels that Bayern, which he coached from 2013 to 2016, should be labeled the strongest candidate to return to rule in Europe. Like City, Hansi Flick’s squad has also stepped one foot into the quarter-finals after beating host Lazio 4-1.

“When I look at Bayern Munich, I don’t think we are favorites. My target is [to beat] West Ham in the next three days,” Guardiola told BT Sport.

“If people say we are favorites, we have to accept it, but this is a team that has only reached the semi-finals in history. But if people say that, okay, we have to accept it.”

Despite the convincing win over Gladbadh in Budapest, the coach admitted that there was still something missing from City’s appearance.

“In general we controlled the game. Unfortunately today we were not sharp enough up front,” said Guardiola.

“This is something we have to improve in this competition. Up front we have to be sharper. In this competition you have to be perfect to ensure passing.”
