Man City Won’t Take Kovacic from Madrid

By news-admin

DBasia.news – One Manchester City target has gone in this summer transfer market. He is Jorginho who moved to the rival team, Chelsea. The Citizens just scored the transfer record by recruiting Riyad Mahrez from Leicester City, with £60M.

Man City is still looking for one more striker, filling the vacancy left by Yaya Toure, also assisting Fernandinho who is now 33 years. The target falls to the 24-year-old midfielder, Mateo Kovacic.

The Real Madrid player has successfully helped Croatian National Team to the final round of World Cup for the very first time. Croatia, unfortunately, was loss 2-4 from France. However, the result didn’t cover the fact of Kovacic intention to leave.

Inter Milan former player wants to leave from his club since 2015 because he seldom plays. Kovacic wants to play regularly as the starter, the role that he didn’t get under Zinedine Zidane leadership.

But Kovacic in Julen Lopetegui era might be different. But it doesn’t guarantee the chance to leave. Man City monitors it.

However, as reported by Sky Sport, Man City of Pep Guardiola gave up form Kovacic hunt due to the high rate, £80M. Actually, money is not a problem for Man City. But seems like it’s too expensive for Kovacic.

Man City, the champion of Premier League and League Cup last season, is also aiming for Southampton striker, Mario Lemina, as the alternative. However, drawing in the player, especially a striker won’t be in a hurry for Man City.

Guardiola seems content and satisfied enough with the current squad. Man City will be on a pre-season tour in the US before the match in Premier League versus Arsenal (12/8).
