Manchester United consider themselves mediocre
By db-admin
DBasia.news – Bruno Fernandes said that the Manchester United players had been afraid since the kick-off against Manchester City.
As a result, the Red Devils were defeated in the first 45 minutes by falling behind 4-0. This match ultimately ended with a score of 6-3 for The Citizens’ victory, marked by Erling Haaland and Phil Foden hat-tricks.
Meanwhile, Man United were only able to score through Antony and Anthony Martial’s brace.
The defeat in the Manchester derby felt stifling for Red Devils fans and Fernandes considered Erik ten Hag’s children did not have enough courage to serve Pep Guardiola’s squad from the start.
“The confidence from the start was not good and I think it created a lot of problems for us and allowed us to concede quick goals,” said Fernandes.
“I think the second half got better. We controlled more, we controlled the game whenever we controlled the ball,” added the Man United captain.
“We were behind, so we took a lot of risks. Of course, when we took those risks, we scored straight away. We tried to [go forward] a little bit more, but we conceded more goals,” he explained.
“You can’t give Man City too much space,” admitted Fernandes.
“Obviously, we are disappointed. However, now is the time to focus on the next game and we have to revive the performance as before, and belief and togetherness, it must be understood that this will not let us down,” continued the captain.
“We have to improve for the next game,” the Portugal star stated.
Next, Man United will face Omonia Nicosia in Cyprus in the Europa League before a visit to Everton’s headquarters next weekend.
