Manchester United could potentially sign a new right-back in January

DBasia.news – There is information circulating about Manchester United’s plans in early 2022. The Red Devils will reportedly try to bring a new right-back to Old Trafford.
Last summer, Manchester United was quite active in purchasing players. The Red Devils spent more than 100 million Euros to bring four new players to Old Trafford.
Since signing for a total transfer fee of 50 million pounds from Crystal Palace in 2019, Wan-Bissaka has immediately sealed a place on the right side of defense and is irreplaceable in that position.
Solskjaer has only rotated him with Brandon Williams and this season with Diogo Dalot. Although Dalot has returned from his loan spell at AC Milan, Solskjaer has not completely trusted the Portuguese player.
In that comfortable position, Wan-Bissaka was allegedly declining in appearance until recently he often appeared inconsistent. No doubt, according to the news published by 90min, Man United is looking for a new right-back to be Wan-Bissaka’s competitor.
Last summer United had been linked with Kieran Trippier, who played for Atletico Madrid. However, Atletico did not want to sell him cheaply and adhered to a buyout clause of more than 30 million pounds.
Several names have been included in United’s transfer list at right-back position, namely James Tavernier (Rangers), Nathan Patterson (Rangers), Max Aarons (Norwich City), and Ethan Laird (Swansea City).
The four names are considered to be Wan-Bissaka’s competitive competitors in the race for United’s right-back position. Among them United had previously been linked with Max Aarons.
Just 21 years old, Aarons has played for Norwich since 2018 and helped the team get promoted to the Premier League twice. United also already has data on the Norwich academy player.
After signing Tom Heaton, Jadon Sancho, Raphael Varane and Cristiano Ronaldo, United needed a contender for Wan-Bissaka on the right side of defence. Different from that side, the left position has a healthy competition between Luke Shaw and Alex Telles.
