Manchester United Data Was Threatened because of Attacks from Hackers
By db-admin
DBasia.news – Manchester United are under threat because of hackers in cyberspace who try to attack. Until now, we are still looking for what sensitive material was hacked.
One concern is that the attack is aimed at retrieving data from Manchester United’s targeted players. The cyberattack paralyzed the Man United system more than a week ago.
Manchester United have conducted an investigation with forensic cyber experts to find out what sensitive material was taken. Club officials also denied that Man United was said to be a victim of ransomware.
Manchester United are clearly still reeling from the disruption. In fact, until now the club’s email system is still inaccessible.
The incident response chief at Check Point’s network security expert, Jon Nichlolls, praised Manchester United for responding to the attack so quickly. However, the attack was a danger signal for a big club.
“It is not clear what type of attack hit Man United. However, their statement said it shut down the affected system to accommodate the damage and protect the data,” commented Jon Nicholls.
“Maybe a double blackmail attack in which the attacker steals data and threatens to leak it, encrypting it to disrupt operations.”
“This is a fast growing trend in 2020. Football clubs are the main target because their system stores details of hundreds of thousands of people including supporters, employees, players, sensitive data and payments,” added Jon Nicholls.
Manchester United say no external source has control over their system. Man United also insisted they were not aware of any fan data that had been leaked into the hands of criminals, although forensic tracking is still being carried out in cyberspace.
