Manchester United Legend: Liverpool Cannot Be Given The Premier League Title

By db-admin

DBasia.news –  Manchester United legend, Peter Schmeichel, disagrees with the discourse of awarding the title to Liverpool if the Premiere League is stopped. According to him, the Reds must win the title by competing. At the moment all Premiere League matches are postponed due to the Corona pandemic that has affected the world including England.

So far, it is unclear when the Premier League will resume. The UK still applies a lockdown to suppress the number of patients infected with the corona virus.

Inevitably, the discourse of ending the Premier League came out earlier. Later, Liverpool who are at the top of the standings would be crowned champions.

However, the idea was disapproved by Peter Schmeichel. The former goalkeeper ratez, the difference of 25 points owned by Liverpool with second place, Manchester City, does not mean anything.

“Winning 25 points? This is very sad for them. However, you have to finish it. You have to win it to be named a champion,” Schmeichel said in a question and answer session on Instagram.

“If you were Liverpool, would you take it for granted? In Belgium, they gave Club Brugge the title. Is that the way to win the competition?”

“I’m not sure. If I were Liverpool, I wouldn’t accept it even though I was 25 points ahead. The single biggest result I got was winning the European championship in 1992.”

“I know it’s not the same. However, it’s similar. We didn’t even qualify, but were able to go there because of the war in Yugoslavia and won it. That was the biggest achievement I achieved. We played to embrace it,” explained the legend.

If Liverpool were far superior at the top of the standings, Manchester United are still trying to get a Champions League ticket next season. The Red Devils are three points from fourth place, Chelsea.
