DBasia.news – Manchester United released an official statement regarding the riot at Old Trafford. The Red Devils insist there is no insider involvement in helping the supporters getting into the stadium.

A number of Manchester United supporters staged a massive protest in front of Old Trafford ahead of the match against Liverpool on Sunday (2/5). The main demand of the Red Devils fans is that the Glazzers will immediately leave.

However, the protests turned into vandalism as the protesters pushed their way into Old Trafford. They damaged a number of facilities and burned flares in the stadium. As a result, the duel against Liverpool was postponed.

After a long pause, Manchester United finally issued an official statement. The Red Devils explained the chronology of the riot.

“The media and social media reports suggesting that the protesters were able to enter the stadium by passing through the gates opened by the staff are not true,” read a fragment of Manchester United’s statement.

“After breaking through the barrier and security at the front row, some protesters climbed the gate at the end of Munich tunnel. Then, they forced their way into the side door on the stands before opening the outer door which allowed other protesters to enter through the crossing area and the square.

“The second action occurred when a protester broke the elevator door for people with disabilities. That way, other groups could enter the stands,” explained Manchester United.

In the aftermath of the incident, Manchester United was threatened with severe sanctions. Moreover, the incident that took place violated local health protocols regarding the spread of Covid-19.

A Wave of Rejection to the Glazzer Family

Lately, Manchester United supporters have often taken action to demand that the Glazzers leave. Man United supporters used the momentum of the European Super League to launch attacks.

Previously, a number of supporters also broke into the Manchester United training center. They had closed the stadium and asked Glazzer to leave.
