Manchester United Spent £10 Million to Extend Ighalo’s Loan

DBasia.news – Manchester United extended Odion Ighalo’s contract until the end of January 2021. The Red Devils are said to have spent a total of 10.5 million GBP for the contract.

The continuation of Ighalo’s fate at Manchester United was briefly discussed because the loan period was only until May 31^st, 2020. Meanwhile, the Premier League has been suspended since March 12 and only rolled again in the middle of this month.

Shanghai Shenhua as the club owner of Ighalo already wanted to take back the player for Chinese Super League kickoff this month. On the other hand, Manchester United also still want Ighalo’s performance as they’re playing in three competitions.

Moreover, Ighalo also appeared impressive with a record of four goals and one assist from eight appearances in all competitions. Although Marcus Rashford has recovered, Ighalo is needed to rotate the team in the Premier League, FA Cup, and Europa League.

Therefore, MU is also willing to spend a total of 10.5 million GBP to extend his loan contract until January 31^st, 2021. As reported by the Daily Mail, the details are six million GBP for the borrowing costs and the rest is the total salary of Ighalo.

MU themselves only pay 130 thousand GBP per week or less than half of Ighalo’s total salary in Shanghai Shenhua which was around 300 thousand GBP per week. The remaining Ighalo salary is still paid by Shanghai Shenhua.

Shanghai Shenhua must indeed give up Ighalo to stay at MU as the Chinese government still prohibit migrants from entering the country until October.
