Manchester United still needs improvement after a narrow win from Norwich
By db-admin
DBasia.news – Manchester United found momentum after playing under Ralf Rangnick. Three matches in all competitions have been passed with a record of two wins and one draw.
Two wins came in the Premier League against Crystal Palace (1-0) and Norwich City (1-0), while one draw came in the Champions League against Young Boys at Old Trafford (1-1).
The match against Norwich took place at Carrow Road on week 16 of the Premier League, Sunday (12/12) morning WIB. United had difficulty winning through Cristiano Ronaldo’s single goal in the 75th minute through a penalty.
Man United had 52% possession but in terms of the number of chances both teams were equally strong with five shots on target. Considering Norwich are trying to stay away from the relegation zone, their struggle is understandable.
Man United kept the momentum going, but they still had work to do as Rangnick highlighted United’s lack of intensity, especially up front, so Norwich had a lot of momentum to create chances.
“It was hard work and, in some parts of the game, we did well. On the other hand, we lacked a bit of intensity, body language and we weren’t as aggressive as Norwich, especially up front,” Rangnick told United’s official website.
“We could have done it with more intensity, with more physicality. In the end, it was important to keep clean sheets again, thanks to David De Gea, who made three or four brilliant saves in the second half.”
“Overall, the most important thing is that we have the three points. (However) I would still be happy with fewer chances, with fewer corners and free-kicks. I think we just suffered too many chances, especially in the second half.”
Rangnick is only the second manager to keep clean sheets in his first two Premier League games, previously there was Ernest Mangnall in 1903.
Football pundit and United legend, Rio Ferdinand thinks United should take the positive side of the match, namely a win and three points even though United did not play as Rangnick wanted.
“I used to think back and think we lost points. I quickly realized in the changing room saying ‘No points won there’. It was a change in mindset from certain results that kept the squad positive,” concluded Ferdinand.
