Manchester United’s gloomy night at Old Trafford

By db-admin

DBasia.news – Manchester United lost to Paris Saint-Germain in the continued Champions League. The defeat made for a disappointing night for the Red Devils. The fifth matchday of Group H in the Champions League brings MU vs PSG at Old Trafford Stadium, Thursday (03/12) am. PSG made it home with a 3-1 win after adding two goals in the second half.

Things went equally strong when Neymar’s goal (6 ‘) was replied to by Marcus Rashford (32’), but in the second half Marquinhos put PSG ahead (69 ‘) and conditions got worse after Fred received a red card in the 70th minute. Neymar scored the second goal in 90 + 1 minutes and ended the match 3-1.

Red card, losing, and from the statistical side Manchester United lost 44 percent of the ball’s possession with only 15 kicks and five kicks on target. Understandably, fans are calling out the hashtag #OleOut again on social media.

MU’s position is far from safe because currently in the group H stage, they are ranked second in the standings with nine points, the same as PSG at the top of the standings and RB Leipzig in third, followed by Istanbul Basaksehir in fourth (three points).

The result also made Old Trafford aka Dream Theater which should have been a friendly place for the host turn into a haunted house.

United have now lost more than eight home games this season in all competitions (four times) than last season, from 28 games at Old Trafford (lost three times).

Manchester United have also lost four of their seven home games at Old Trafford in the Champions League (won three times). Solskjaer chose to highlight Fred’s red card which he believe had changed the match.

Fred received a red card after goring at PSG’s Leandro Paredes in the first half and also appeared to be stepping on the same player, then a second yellow card that ended in red occurred when he tackled Ander Herrera.

“It’s not a foul,” Solskjaer said of Fred’s second yellow. “Fred played disciplined in the second half and when he made tackles like this you can’t really blame him.”

“We said in the first half it had to make sense and he played well. When the decision was made by the referee you might look back, but there was no reason from his performance to pull him out.”

“He was lucky to stay in the first half but the ref made a mistake there, that’s okay. But Fred knows he can’t turn his head at someone even if he doesn’t touch it.”

“You can’t say Ander tried to provoke him, that’s unfair to Ander. I thought Fred kept his head and did well in the second half and he had no luck with the referee’s decision. You can say from the point of view of having 11 players is better.”

“We spoke to him in the first half and to be wise and I think he did. I thought he played well, he was very wise in the second half and he closed the space, against the players without trying to tackle.”

“The tackle that earned him a yellow card was not a foul at all, if you look at it again it was the referee’s fault. But human error is allowed and I can’t complain about that now. Fred had no luck there but maybe he was lucky not to come out in the first half.” concluded Solskjaer.
