Marcus Rashford’s ambition
By db-admin
DBasia.news – FOne goal scored by Marcus Rashford not only fulfilled his 100 goals, he is also increasingly confident to bear the status of the king of the air.
Rashford did score the only goal when Manchester United beat West Ham 1-0 in the 2022-2023 Premier League continued at Old Trafford, Sunday (30/10). He did so with a header in the 38th minute.
Interestingly, the header goal was not a mere coincidence. He was able to win an aerial duel with Thilo Kehrer to then head the ball hard.
It was also the second time Rashford has headed in the game. In the 16th minute, he also won the aerial duel although his powerful header was still right at Lukasz Fabianski.
After the match, Rashford admitted that he had honed his heading skills. This aims to make him score more goals through the head.
“I need to score with a few more headers. Obviously (I’ve honed it),” Rashford told Sky Sports after the game.
“I felt that I had a decent jump, I just needed to work on getting on the ball and getting early contact.”
Throughout the 2022-2023 season, Rashford has scored 2 goals with headers. This amount is more than he had in the previous four seasons.
Rashford has the opportunity to add to his header goals as the 2022-2023 season has just begun. Moreover, Manchester United has a number of world-class feeders such as Christian Eriksen and Bruno Fernandes.
“I have to be more aggressive when I see the ball in the air, especially when it hangs like that and I run towards defenders. If I jump in front of him then he won’t beat me in the air.”
