Mark Clattenburg’s Story: Trembling after Sir Alex Ferguson’s Red Card

By db-admin

DBasia.news – The charisma of a Sir Alex Ferguson seems to really make a lot of people shy away from him. Mark Clattenburg, who is a former Elite Premier League referee, is one of them.

Clattenburg has an interesting story related to Ferguson. He once gave the Norwegian a red card for protesting excessively.

This story is revealed in an autobiography entitled Whistle Blower. Clattenburg told of his experiences during his career as a referee.

Ferguson’s red card moment occurred in November 2007. At that time, Manchester United played away to Bolton headquarters.

In that match, Clattenburg served as the main referee. He was 32 years old at that time and had just started his career as a gridiron judge.

The game was hot because Bolton applied a hard game that tends to be rough to compensate for Manchester United. Especially after they took the lead quickly through Nicolas Anelka’s goal in the tenth minute.

One of the victims of Bolton’s rough play was Patrice Evra. The French defender was fouled at least three times by Kevin Davies in the first half.

But Clattenburg only gave a yellow card. This made Ferguson smack and protest in the stadium hall after the first half ended.

“You don’t give us any protection. You have no control,” Ferguson told Clattenburg, accompanied by obscenities.

Clattenburg quickly issued a red card for Ferguson. This made Fergie unable to accompany Manchester United on the bench throughout the second half.

Clattenburg’s decision is certainly the right one. No one should intimidate the referee especially with harsh words.

Surprisingly, Clattenburg actually felt shaking after Ferguson’s red card. He is worried that his career as a referee will be hampered by his decision.

But Clattenburg is unlikely to annul his decision. He then asked a female security guard outside the Manchester United dressing room to restrain Ferguson from entering the pitch again.

In the end, Ferguson sat in the stands throughout the second half. He uses a communication device to get in touch with his assistant on the bench.
