Marko Arnautovic’s transfer cancelled

By db-admin

DBasia.news – Manchester United have pulled out of a controversial move to sign Marko Arnautovic after being denounced by fans. Richard Arnold, chief executive, has been flooded with protests from supporters since the issue of the striker’s transfer arose.

Arnold’s email address went viral on social media, leading to supporters venting their anger in large numbers.

Erik ten Hag decided to pursue the Austria international as it became increasingly difficult to find a new striker, failing to persuade Darwin Nunez, Antony and Benjamin Sesko to move to Old Trafford.

Fans were furious and displeased with United targeting  Arnautovic, who is thought to have a track record of racism in the past.

They are also disappointed by the the 33-year-old player, who has played in the Premier League with West Ham United and Stoke City.

United believe Arnautovic could be a cheap striker option, with an 8 million pounds tag that could potentially be a game-changer off the bench.

Bologna’s attempts to raise prices also contributed to United’s decision not to pursue the player, but fans’ unrest was the main reason.

Ten Hag is still looking to add strength to his squad’s forward line, with superstars Cristiano Ronaldo and Anthony Martial being the only centre-forward options.

Ajax winger Antony has been a prime target all summer, even though his original position is not the spearhead.

Meanwhile, Sesko’s move to RB Leipzig, which was confirmed on Tuesday (9/8), means United have yet to set their new target.
