DBasia.news – Unai Emery’s decision to bench Bernd Leno as Arsenal’s main goalkeeper is supported by Martin Keown. The Arsenal legend assumed Leno isn’t suitable to replace Petr Cech.
Arsenal bought Leno this summer with a high price. The Gunners paid £20M to get him from Bayer Leverkusen.
But the Germany goalkeeper is the second option after Petr Cech. Leno just has his debut with Arsenal in the Europa League this week.
He supporter Arsenal to win against Vorskla with a 4-2 score.
However, Leno failed to guard his net conceded, made imperfect his flawless debut.
“Certainly not the goalkeeper. You can’t point blame at him for the goals, but if he pulled off a worldie save he might stay in the team,” Keown said.
“If he saved one of those goals you’d have to say he was quite brilliant. (If he) did nothing for the whole night but he pulled off two amazing saves, but he didn’t do that,” he added.
“I’m not sure anyone has done that tonight (shown they deserve to be in the first team).”
